George W. Blast. So with the NIH report telling him the Iran program was off, which he received in August, Bush beats the war drum extra hard in October. How will history judge him? How will history judge us for tolerating this man in office? So what is he? Completely stupid, mentally ill, or really evil? Maybe it's a kind of cocktail.

Not once, but TWICE!!! Forget history, we of the present time, who have to live in this Armageddon you created, are judging you already and the judgment is not very flattering! You are no fools, still you unleash this pack of demons on earth! How ARE we supposed to judge you? Worst of all, it is clear that your next leader will not be an improvement. Will there BE any history to judge you, i.e. will you destroy this earth, or will you come to your senses and join our global community as equal rather than slave-masters? The irony is that you beat the Soviet, but became a Soviet in the process. We miss the 'good old' USA, which including all its flaws, still was the best that the earth had produced in the last 500 years. Why did you let this bunch of neo-terrorists destroy that jewel?

"Despite Report, France and Germany Keep Pressure on Iran" - The New York Times. One the other side of the coin, it appears that Aljazeera, Socialist Worker Online and Mother Jones believe that Iran can be trusted.

Oh Raul give me a break. The question isn't so much whether Iran can be trusted but whether the U.S. government can be trusted. The entire premise in which the American public considers the issue is deeply flawed and uninformed. If there is a shift in power in the region in Iran's favor you can thank the Shrub and his Iraq catastrpohe for that - and I'm not aware of any observer of the Middle East who seriously questions that conclusions. Also, you failed to mention how relieved all European leaders were that the military option is off the table. UNfortunately, those leaders underestimate the insanity of the current administration. And if you think it's Motherjones that's the problem, one can only say it's you who're globally isolated not Motherjones. Most of the world now considers the actions of the Iranian government more rational than that of Bush and the War Party. Which to the blind jingoist sounds like an endorsement of Iran, rather than what it is: a profound indictment of what many historians are already calling the most disasterous presidency in US history. God save us from the US public if indeed their learning curve is a wall of 90 degrees -I'm hopeful it isn't and we must hope anyway, for despair never helps anyone or anything.

Mir: I hear your anguish. Believe me the majority now here shares it. Our problem is he anesthesia that comes with comfort. But that is now melting with the world's ice. The lies can no longer be sustained. That said, American government is now so broken that things may continue in inertia after next year. I don't believe that will happen. But that's just a belief, because I, like you, want the jewel back. People like Raul can't get that what was working before in America wasn't "liberal" so much as about opportunity, keeping the doors open. Fear, we can see now, makes us mentally ill . . . . and far less secure. PS: Would you mind very much if I use this in the body of the blog sometime?

Take heart Mir...EVERYONE (And Thats quite a few) I know cannot stand him. I cant even look at him, to hear his voice is pure anguish as I reach for the mute button. The world needs to know that U.S. Citizens are not to blame for this mans evil.....funny everyone I know did not vote for him either, yet he still got in. Maybe Al Gore will win again and be denied? Unfortunatly we have no way to change this until 2008 and something tells me that nothing will change. Everyone knows 9-11 was a lie. Everyone knows Iraq is a lie. Everyone knows Iran was a lie. Everyone knows Plame was screwed. The electoral system is a sham. All they do is lie..... The list is endless, shall I go on?

Actually, the question of whether or not to trust Iran is at issue. The knowledge of whether they have a nuclear capability is vital to developing any kind of foreign policy. Unfortunately, the fiascos unleashed by the CIA over the last 50 years of it's existence have led to a situation in which it is impossible to know whether intelligence estimates are at all reliable. Thus the US now will stumble blindly through the coming years . . .
